You will contribute to the recently launched Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation (LC3M), which is a consortium of 10 UK and international partner organisations led by Prof. David Beerling FRS at the University of Sheffield. The remit of LC3M is to investigate the potential of enhanced rock weathering as a means of removing CO2 from the atmosphere, exploiting natural reactions in soils to cool the planet while enhancing crop yields and mitigating ocean acidification. Your role will be to develop novel integrated modelling approaches to assess the impacts of enhanced weathering and associated policy interventions on the natural and socio-economic Earth systems.
You will hold a PhD, or be near to completing your PhD, in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematical, physical or environmental science or socio-economic modelling). You must have substantial experience of numerical modelling techniques.
Closing date: 12.00 noon on 27 February 2017
