Why We Want You:

Worried about wildlife? Anxious about the environment? Want to make a difference? We are, and we do! We need outgoing and enthusiastic individuals whose passion is infectious and inspiring to raise the profile and build support for our local, national and international campaigns.

So what are we doing now?

The RSPB has launched Stepping Up for Nature, a brand new Campaign to halt biodiversity loss by 2020. We need dedicated campaigners to support this campaign by taking a variety of actions.

We'd ask you to consider undertaking some or more of the following:

  • Distributing campaign materials in your local area e.g. pledge cards and petitions
  • Taking an online campaign action such as signing a petition or sending off a quick email that we have prepared for you.
  • Using social media (like Facebook and Twitter) to promote our campaigns and reach more people by retweeting or sharing our campaign updates or posting your own.
  • Writing a letter or an e-mail to a politician or a local paper. This makes a huge difference in increasing the effectiveness of our campaign work by showing how our campaigns are locally relevant to your community and local decision makers.

You will not necessarily be asked to do all of these campaign actions as this will depend on the campaign. You also do not have to do everything you are asked - just those things you are comfortable with.

We won't expect you to do all this alone! We'll give you all the necessary help and support that you need to campaign effectively. Full briefings about our campaign work will be provided, along with tips and guidelines to make sure your campaigning hits the spot.

What's In It For You:

You get to play an integral part in making a real difference to birds, wildlife and the environment both at home and overseas. Improve your knowledge of key issues that affect our natural world, and bask in the kudos and self-satisifaction gained by aligning yourself with the largest environmental charity in Europe!

Requirements:

We're looking for active, friendly, approachable and passionate individuals to take action for birds, wildlife and the environment in their local area. A willingness to explore different locations in your local community to distribute our campaign literature is desirable but not essential.

We cannot stress enough what a huge difference your time will make to our campaign work. It will help give the Society a very loud voice indeed when it comes to lobbying decision-makers at all levels for long-lasting and effective change for birds, wildlife and the environment.

Notes:

We will invite you to volunteer thank you events, send you copies of our bi-annual volunteer newsletter, and of course give you ongoing support in your role.
