Acoustic Testing Engineer or Junior Acoustic Consultant

Area - Reading, Berkshire (or flexible within the South of England for the right candidate)

The successful candidate will have a good grounding in acoustics and experience of sound insulation testing and building acoustic compliance testing. Syntegra offer specialist consultancy and testing services across the education/retail/commercial/residential/industrial and hotel sectors. As you progress in this role, additional services/training will be offered to further your qualifications. The successful candidate should be a member of the Institute of Acoustics (minimum TechIOA or AMIOA) or suitably qualified to achieve IOA membership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sound insulation testing/consultancy services to our clients, predominantly in London and the South East
  • Liaising with clients and site agents
  • Carrying out of sound insulation tests and noise measurement surveys
  • Provide assistance in acoustic design reviews and planning related noise assessments
  • Interpret and evaluate results during testing.
  • Generating compliance reports and certification
  • Identify potential problems and/or weakness with the building design
  • Undertake pre-test audits o Advising clients on appropriate remedial options in the event of failure.
  • Be able to self-manage a busy and time-critical schedule of work o Have excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Be self-motivated and able to deal with a fast-moving, high pressure environment

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years undertaking sound insultation testing
  • Attained experience to be eligible for ANC sound insulation testing accreditation
  • Experience undertaking residential and commercial projects
  • Solid competence in requirements for Part E regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Possess a full driving license and be prepared to work remotely

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Environmental acoustic measurement experience
  • Air testing accreditation and experience

Contract: Full time, permanent position - a three-month probation period applies.
