Job Description

This company is looking to recruit two engineers with previous experience in
highway design to join their growing team in Birmingham. The candidate will be
required to support scheme project managers and teams and undertake all work of
a technical nature. The candidate will need to be able to actively pursue
professional development and training and foster good relationships with all
external parties to enhance the reputation of the company.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience in highway engineering
- Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads & Bridges standards
- Conversant with the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Ability to work unsupervised
Responsibilities
- Preparation of technically sound and innovative design solutions in
accordance with relevant codes of practice, standards and advice notes
- Management of projects and coordination with clients and third parties
- Supervise junior staff in the undertaking of scheme designs
- Preparation of reports, scheme programmes and scheme cost estimates
- Preparation of project programmes and fee estimates
- Checking and approval of the work of others
- Implement an appropriate level of hazard and risk management in designs in
accordance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
- Provide technical and project administration support to Project Managers

- A candidate with good technical skills who can work in a team environment
on multi-disciplinary projects
- Able to manage small teams and deputise for the Project Manager
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Works openly and collaboratively to maximise overall organisational health
