The company:

Within the transport sector, this company distinguishes between transport consultancy (strategic advisory services) and transport engineering (design and delivery). Whilst much of their work in the transport sector is currently in the transport engineering area, one of their strategic goals is to grow the transport consultancy business.

The Role:

This is a newly established role with a view to ensuring a UK-wide co-ordinated approach to developing transport planning services provided by the company to their public sector clients.

The role will initially focus on large clients and projects (frameworks) in the UK, with the objective of making this client a leading transport planning player in the public sector market in the UK.

The jobholder will be responsible for all transport planning business related to the UK public sector. He/she will hold ultimate responsibility for the management of clients in the public sector and the Profit and Loss account for the UK Transport Planning Public Sector unit. In addition, the candidate will establish a closer co-operation and sharing of resources between the geographically diverse transport planning teams.

You:

At this level you should have an appropriate professional qualification with Chartered status by a relevant Professional Body; a good knowledge of transport planning fundamentals; and a good understanding of the UK public sector, key policy trends, public sector procurement and decision making processes. In addition, you will have project management and business development experience; experience of working for local, regional and national government clients; and experience of delivering large transport consultancy assignments for UK public sector clients on a national scale.
