Post-Doc position (E13 TV-L / 100%)
within the BMBF-funded research project "Digital Agricultural Knowledge and Information System (DAKIS)" subject to final funding approval.
DAKIS contributes to the vision for spatially and functionally diversified agricultural systems. These systems will be small-scale, and landscape-specific, as well as tailored to the demands of society by effectively integrating requirements for agri-cultural goods and services into farm planning. The approaches and tools devel-oped by the DAKIS project will be highly novel and innovative, making use of state-of-the-art digital information and agricultural management technology. Production and marketing of ecosystem services and biodiversity will be integrated through digitization of modern planning processes.
The Crop Science group at the University of Bonn contributes to DAKIS by sup-porting the set-up of the sensor infrastructure at the test sites located in the federal states of Brandenburg and Bavaria, the ground- and aircraft-based monitoring and by spatially and temporally explicit modeling of cropping systems under explicit consideration of ecosystems services and biodiversity. Major tasks for the Post-Doc are to support the set-up of the monitoring structure at the test sites, the planning of the modelling and monitoring of ecosystem services and biodiversity indicators and to establish a workflow for the assimilation of sensor data in crop-ping system models for real-time simulations. The position includes the application and further development of the existing modelling platform (www.simplace.net) and frequent traveling (Germany) to collect experimental data. Close cooperation with project partners is anticipated.
We are looking for a highly motivated person to work in an interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate has a PhD degree in crop science, geo-ecology, re-mote sensing, geodesy or related sciences with a background in crop production, biodiversity, remote sensing and/or expertise in using simulation models. Experiences and strong interest in developing process-based, numerical models at the soil-plant interface and in object-oriented computer programming is an ad-vantage. The position is a full position and paid according to the German regulations for scientists at the Post Doc level (TVL-13). Applicants with more than three years of experience in scientific research may be eligible for additional upgrades. Starting date of the position depends on the final project approval (expected in March 2019).
