Professor of Forest Science

The Department of Environmental Systems Science ( at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.

The new professor will lead an internationally recognized research program advancing the frontier of forest science with relevance to the adaptive management of forest ecosystems and the provisioning of ecosystem services. The focus will be on the development of an integrative approach that addresses the multiscale challenges in understanding forest functioning and deriving management regimes that support the sustained provisioning of forest ecosystem services. Potential areas of specialization include (but are not limited to) forest conservation and bio-economy, forest biology, forest-based climate mitigation, forests and natural hazards, and the scientific basis of adaptive forest management.

The future professor is expected to collaborate with research groups at ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) that share similar interests. She/he will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (in German or English) and graduate level courses (in English) in the field of forest science.
