Chief Forester / Plantation Quality Control
and Training Director



Job Description:

The Quality Control and Training Director is responsible for the following:

  • Management of the technical aspects of the establishment of nursery operations, new plantings and silviculture of maturing tress.
  • Training of permanent and temporary local personnel in company policies and procedures regarding nursery and forestry operations
  • Development and implementation of the annual training plan,
  • Oversight of Site Training and Quality Control Field Mangers
  • Conduct of site quality audits
  • Preparation of the quality and training sections of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to shareholders
  • Review operations to ensure company policies and procedures are sound and in accordance with the technical, social and environmental objectives of the company
  • Update and maintenance of personnel training records

Required Qualifications:

The following are the minimum qualifications required for the position:

  • Bachelor degree in Foresters from a top university (Master Degree preferred)
  • 5 + years of experience as a practicing forester
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Willingness to work and live throughout Southeast Asia
  • Ability to manage a staff of 5 to 10 persons at remote sites.
  • Computer literate in MS Office programs

Preferred Experience:

Preference will be given for persons having experience:

  • In a commercial / private sector operation;
  • With teak and/or other tropical hardwood species;
  • In a plantation operation, to include nursery operations;
  • Management of subordinate personnel
  • Teaching and training of personnel in forestry and nursery practices
  • With FSC certification program
  • With GIS software
