Teagasc Post Doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 - Crops, Environment and Land Use Programme

Basic Function of the post:

Investigate the state-of-art diffuse contaminant models for Irish conditions.

Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:

  • To evaluate pesticide and phosphorus losses to water from agricultural land cover across temporal and spatial scales, building on existing modelling studies.
  • To contribute to a national risk assessment tool for assessing risk of pesticide and phosphorus losses impacting on water quality.

Person Specification


  • PhD in environmental science/hydrochemistry/hydrology/engineering (or equivalent)
  • Good computational skills


  • Experience in developing and advancing water quality models and decision support tools to simulate the impacts of land use, climate, and human influences on water quality
  • Ability to programme in R, Python, or similar
