Teagasc Post Doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 (PD2) - Irish Land Uses Project

BASIC FUNCTION:

The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to integrate (and potentially redesign) a range of pre-existing models to develop a modelling tool to project future greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and carbon sequestration associated with changes in the level of agricultural activity and forestry activity under a range of scenarios.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyse and interpret quantitative data using econometric techniques.
  • Interpret and publish results in prominent international scientific journals as well as technical and popular press, and present results at conferences and to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and further develop the economic research programme in Teagasc.
  • Interact with stakeholders from agriculture, food industry, Government & other state agencies.
  • Develop and maintain active collaborative contacts with other national and international research organisations and with other Programmes in Teagasc.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

ESSENTIAL

  • PhD in the area of Economics or Environmental Science or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years and not more than 5 yearsˇ¦ relevant research experience.
  • Demonstrated research and technical expertise in agricultural and or environmental policy modelling.
  • Track record of researcher dissemination including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, report writing and data analysis skills.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of working with the data from the Teagasc National Farm Survey.
  • An understanding of the structures of the IPCC Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory methodology.
  • An understanding of production level GHG Live Cycle Analysis.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural
