For the team Sustainable Soil Management at Wageningen Environmental Research we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed:
Senior researcher nutrient management in agro-ecosystems (36h)
The team Sustainable Soil Management consists of 32 employees and is one of the research teams within Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR). The mission of the team is to contribute to improved soil management practices and soil quality for the benefit of resource use efficiency, biodiversity, climate change mitigation and water- and air quality. We focus on the chemical, biological and hydrological processes in soils and the way these processes are influenced by climate (change), land use and soil- and nutrient management.
We are looking for:
A senior researcher with profound knowledge of nutrient management practises in Dutch and European agriculture and effects of such management on soil quality, water quality and emissions to air. You are able to inform and advise both Dutch and European policy makers on effective nutrient use to improve environmental quality.
You are able to initiate scientific innovations and publish results in both scientific as well as impact-oriented journals. You initiate, and contribute to, the acquisition of new research projects based on innovative ideas and represent WENR in external commissions and working groups. To succeed in this role, you need to be a team-player, need a customer and result-oriented attitude, as well as a strong affinity with soils and nutrient management in agriculture. We are looking for a candidate that:
- Has preferably a PhD in environmental sciences, agronomy, soil science or a related science
- Has extensive knowledge of agronomy, soil and nutrient management
- Has affinity with policy advise
- Has at least 10 years of experience with project management in a project organisation
- Has the proven ability to acquire large (inter)national projects
- Has an extensive (inter)national network relevant for this function
- Has excellent verbal and writing skills in Dutch and English
- Has strong social and communicative skills, and is a team-player
A position in scale 12 (starting with € 3736,- gross to a maximum of € 5608,-) depending on your knowledge and experience. Excellent secondary terms of employment, for example a structural -end-of- year bonus and flexibility in many respects. This position will be for 36 hours per week, for a period of two years with a prospect on a permanent employment contract after proven suitability for this position.
