In the framework of the newly founded research cluster of excellence "Topoi" in Berlin, Germany, the Institute of Geographical Sciences Freie Universität Berlin is offering a PhD position IIa BAT (50%) for 4 years which will commence on July 1, 2008 for carrying out a doctoral thesis in this collaborative research initiative. The position will involve geomorphological and geoarchaeological research with project work in Turkey, as well as teaching in Physical Geography. Applicants should have a master's, Diplom, or equivalent degree in Geography, with a focus in physical geography. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in field and laboratory methods in geomorphology and soil science/sedimentology, in-depth knowledge of geographical information systems and digital image processing, as well as experience in using quantitative methods and model applications.
