The Institute of Geography at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne invites applications for a position as

Professor (W3) Physical Geography

to be filled as of April 1st, 2019.

In support of the focus on “Human-Environment Research” at the Institute of Geography, we seek a candidate with a proven track record of high quality research and education in the field of Geomorphology / Quaternary Research. The incumbent will also be Scientific Director of the Cologne Luminescence Lab (CLL) at the Institute of Geography. Sound knowledge of modern field and laboratory methods is required. Modeling competence is advantageous. The willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary research in the competence areas of the University of Cologne and the Geoverbund ABC/J as well as to coordinated research projects (e.g., CRC1211) is expected. Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and managing national and international research projects is assumed.

The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the full range of study programs offered by the Institute of Geography at the undergraduate level and will focus on Geomorphology at the graduate level. Contributions to the study programs QSGA and IMES are expected.

Qualification requirements are in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia University Law and include an excellent track record in research and teaching.
