Within this setting, the Department of Geology and Geography currently offers undergraduate degree programs in both geography and geology and a minor in GIS. In addition, our new master's degree program in Applied Geography will welcome our first cohort of students in Fall semester, 2017.
Reporting to the Department Chair, the Lecturer of Geography will be a broadly trained geographer. Areas of desired teaching interests include, but are not limited, to political, economic, cultural, regional geography and/or nature-society. The position, which is primarily teaching and service orientated, requires a terminal degree. The individual selected will participate in teaching core introductory courses in geography and upper-level undergraduate geography classes in his/her specialty. The position is a 9-month, non-tenure track, lecturer appointment, renewable on an annual basis for up to six years. The possibility of promotion to senior lecturer exists in year six upon demonstration of excellence in teaching. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Earned PhD by August 1, 2017 in geography or a closely related discipline with at least 18 graduate semester hours in geography
- Previous teaching experience (full-time or part-time)
- Specialty that complements the Department's existing areas of expertise
