The Department of Geography at Kansas State University invites applications for a tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR position beginning August 2014. We seek a geographer with the ability to apply complex systems thinking and geospatial computational methods to problems in Earth System Science or physical geography. The new faculty member will complement existing faculty strengths indicated on a Venn diagram of departmental thinking (http://www.k-state.edu/geography/academics) and expand our ability to conduct cutting-edge research in the analysis and modeling of dynamic geographic processes. Candidates will have the opportunity to pursue emerging interdisciplinary opportunities for spatial scientists across the K-State campus. Strong research and teaching interests in GIScience (including remote sensing) are especially desirable. Successful candidates will value diversity in all of its dimensions, employ cutting-edge geographical approaches in their research and teaching, and consider different technical and cultural perspectives in solving problems appropriate to a land grant institution.
