Professorship (W3) for Geomorphology
and Soil Science
The future holder of the post is expected to represent the fields of geomorphology and soil science in the context of physical geography and geoecology in university research and teaching. The professorship is part of the core area of the Institute of Geography and Geoecology including the joint direction of the Laboratory for Geoecology and Soil Science.
In teaching, the successful candidate (m/f) will be in charge of the consecutive Bachelor's / Master's degree programme in "geoecology" and the modular teaching degree programme in geography, supervising the physical-geographic basic education, the core areas of soil science and mineralogy as well as the course specialisations of urban and landscape ecology. In the framework of the urban ecological focus, a main emphasis should be put on the analysis of towns and agglomerations from a global perspective.
The convincing applicant (m/f) should be widely recognised for their expansive geoecological research activities both in basic and applied research, with specializations for instance in the fields of urban ecology, material flows in ecosystems, soil mineralogy or soil use / soil management being desirable. The successful candidate (m/f) will profit by an interesting research environment at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The holder (m/f) of this professorship will be requested to cooperate with the KIT's existing research centres such as Climate and Environment.
The department is looking for a personality (m/f) with an outstanding expertise in the above-mentioned fields qualified in interdisciplinary cooperation, successful project management and with a profound didactic qualification. The candidate (m/f) will contribute to the collegial management of the institute. Their disposition to actively raise third-party funds from public and private investors as well as their willingness to contribute to across faculty activities is presupposed.
