This position is expected to start in the Fall 2010 semester or as soon as possible thereafter. We seek a candidate who will provide expert undergraduate teaching support for the Geography Department. The courses to be taught will be at the Freshman-Senior levels and may include, among others: Geography of Environmental Systems, Geomorphology, Biogeography, Climatology, and Hydrology. This is not a tenure track position, but is renewable contingent on funding and performance and it is anticipated that at least 3 years of support will be available. As part of the teaching load, the candidate will be expected to foster research with undergraduate students, and in the event the individual brings in research money to support this, the teaching load would be reduced accordingly. Salary competitive and commensurate with experience. Minimum requirements are a PhD in Geography or a related discipline by time of appointment and a demonstrated teaching record in physical geography. The person chosen for the position will be broadly trained in biogeography, geomorphology, or climatology.
