Supernumerary Teaching Fellowship in
Physical Geography
St. John's College invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a five-year fixed-term Supernumerary Teaching Fellowship in Physical Geography (without membership of Governing Body), with effect from 1st October 2012.
The person appointed will teach undergraduates up to a maximum of eight hours each week averaged over the three eight-week terms and play a full part in the organization of teaching in St. John's for undergraduates reading for the Honour School of Geography. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to teach the broad range of physical geography topics in the Oxford syllabus. He or she will also be expected to share administrative and pastoral duties and to participate in the undergraduate admissions process for Geography.
The election to the Fellowship will be for one year in the first instance, and renewable thereafter for up to four years, subject to a satisfactory report on the first year's duties. No duties are required for the University, and the approval of the College must be sought before any are undertaken. The fifth and final year of the appointment is a sabbatical year to permit the Fellow to further their research.
The person appointed will hold a doctoral degree in Geography at the time of application and will be expected to engage in original research.
The annual salary will be on the incremental scale of £25,854 - £33,734.
