University of VictoriaAssistant Professor, Remote SensingThe Department of Geography, University of Victoria, invites applications for a tenure track position in the area of Remote Sensing. Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in geomatics programming methodologies coupled with physical geography (hydrology, biogeography, geomorphology, climatology). The appointment, effective July 1, 2014, will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor. Teaching opportunities may include courses in remote sensing, geomatics programming, surveying, hydrology, pedology, statistics, biogeography, and other areas of geomatics and physical geography as appropriate. The successful applicant will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Geography, outstanding research potential, a dedication to teaching, and the ability to work synergistically both within the Department and in collaboration with other units on campus. They will contribute to a vibrant Department with extensive interests in remote sensing and physical geography at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Letters of application should include a curriculum vitae, a statement outlining teaching philosophy and research interests, and evidence of research and teaching ability.
