Lecturer and Research Associate - Geological Institute
The Geological Institute at RWTH Aachen University provides basic and advanced teaching in the courses "Applied Geosciences (BSc/MSc)", Georesources Management (BSc/MSc)" and "Applied Geophysics (MSc)". Research at the Geological Institute focuses on reservoir geology, sedimentology (clastics, carbonates, evaporites) seismic interpretation and geological modelling. The institute currently hosts ca. 25 permanent academic staff, post-doctoral and guest researchers, PhD students, technical staff and adminstrative personel. The Geological Institute is constantly involved in national und international research projects.
Applicants must have a doctorate/Ph.D. or equivalent.
We seek applicants with a MSc degree in geosciences and a PhD in geology. We are interested in candidates accomplished in sedimentological, tectonic or applied geophysical research, and first academic teaching experience. The successful candidate will complement the teaching and research portfolio of the Geological Institute, for example in clastic sedimentology, carbonate sedimentology, evaporites, reservoir geology, tectonics and sedimentation or geological modelling.
The candidate should provide a research statement (1 page) for 3 years, which will be an essential part of the application.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants will be assessed primarily on scientific merits, but teaching experience, team spirit and the ability to attract external funding are also considered.
