We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Petrology and Fluid Processes. The starting date is 1 August 2022 (winter term 2022/2023). The successful applicant will be initially appointed as Junior Professor and head an independent research group. The research focus area will be in the field of petrology and fluid processes in the Earth's crust, with a clear link to applied problems of societal relevance. These could include but are not limited to formation of mineral deposits of critical metals and fluid-rock interaction, for example in underground storage reservoirs or geothermal systems. The research methods should have a significant component of field- and materials-based research, and should integrate instrumental analysis, and experimental or numerical methods. The new professor should contribute to broader research initiatives of the Faculty and the profile areas of the RWTH, collaborate within research networks (e.g. Geoverbund ABC/J or Jülich Aachen Research Alliance JARA), and have a clear commitment to establish an externally funded research program. The new professor should continue and further develop the teaching portfolio of the research group, including basic and advanced teaching in petrology, mineralogy and instrumental analysis. Furthermore, the new professor should make important contributions to the internationalization and digitalization of teaching.

You should have a completed university degree and a special aptitude for scientific work which is generally verified by means of an outstanding doctorate. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within 5 years.
