Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

Working in partnership with the international energy industry, the Department of Geology & Petroleum Geology has a long record of collaborative research directed towards understand fundamental processes in the Earth System with specific reference to the World's sedimentary basins. We are particularly interested in the processes that form sedimentary basins, their depositional fill, and the evolution of their fluids. As part of the University's continuing recognition of the importance of petroleum geology within the context of the Universities newly established Aberdeen Institute of Energy, the School of Geosciences is seeking to increase capability in industry collaborative petroleum geology basin research and training in Aberdeen.

As a part of continuing significant investment in staffing within the School, we wish to appoint three excellent researchers and teachers as Lecturer/Senior Lecturers within the broad field of petroleum geology. These appointments will complement and extend our existing strengths in natural resource exploration and basin analysis. Accordingly, applicants should be able to demonstrate the potential contribution of their research to these fields. We are particularly interested in researchers with a track record of publication in high quality peer-reviewed journals, who can demonstrate potential for the acquisition of research funding. The successful applicants will undertake fundamental research as well as contributing directly to our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale for Lecturer (£37,382 - £44,607 per annum) and the Grade 8 salary scale for Senior Lecturer (£47,314 - £53,233 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
