An exciting opportunity exists for a Lecturer (Level B) to join the Geology and Geophysics group in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences to complement our existing teaching and research strengths. The University of Adelaide's Geology and Geophysics group has a dedicated and dynamic group of staff. As one of Australia's premier teaching and research groups in the exciting geosciences field, we invite applications from candidates across the field, but are particularly interested in applicants who can provide a link between research disciplines in geology, geophysics and environmental geoscience.

This position has an academic focus and you will be expected to provide evidence of strong performance in and a commitment to teaching. Our undergraduate curriculum enjoys high student demand. You will be required to contribute to undergraduate teaching by undertaking course development and coordination, and in leading field excursions.

You should have:
  • A PhD in geology, geophysics or environmental geoscience with an established research track record.
  • A clear research program and agenda that is congruent with the research strengths of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
  • Evidence of effective high-quality and student-oriented teaching and the ability to provide academic leadership in curriculum development.
  • The ability to effectively supervise Honours and PhD students
  • The ability to establish effective teaching and research linkages with other organisations within the University of Adelaide, as well as external stakeholders in the domain of geology in the state, Australia and internationally.
  • The ability to attract external research funding from federal government (eg. ARC), state government (eg. PIRSA) or industry, and international agencies.
  • Examples of high quality peer-reviewed scientific journal publications and oral communications (eg. teaching, seminars and/or conference presentations)
Salary: (Level B) $73,228 - $86,960 per annum.

Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

This fixed-term position is available immediately for a period of 3 years.
