Our structure is unique in the Asia-Pacific area, ensuring a focus on the practical needs for the international petroleum industry through close integration of Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering and Management in one School. We are seeking an experienced individual with internationally recognised expertise in the field of sedimentary geology. We are particularly interested in candidates who can expand the existing strength in outcrop and subsurface sedimentology and stratigraphy through areas such as, but not limited to, seismic interpretation, numerical modelling, applied palaeontology or applied geomorphology. There is a potential commitment to reservoir and seal characterisation and stratigraphy under the CO2CRC, depending on the skills of the successful candidate. To be successful in this role you should have an internationally recognised track record of scholarly work, the ability to secure external funding for research from a variety of sources, and also the ability to supervise Honours and PhD students and teach high quality sedimentary geology courses. For appointment as a Senior Lecturer (Level C), in addition to the above, you should have a strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals, and a demonstrated ability to attract external and industry funding for applied and fundamental research projects. Salary: (Level B) $73,228 - $86,960 per annum. Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies. This fixed-term position is available from January 2010 for a period of 5 years.
