Yarragadee Geodetic Observatory Assistance Manager
Geoscience Australia is responsible for Australia's national coordinate reference system and contributing to the maintenance and development of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame. The MOBLAS-5 Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) station, also known as Yarragadee SLR station, is located 100 kilometres south east of Geraldton, Western Australia, on the Yatharagga property near Mingenew. The SLR station is a key component of the Yarragadee Geodetic Observatory (YGO) which also includes Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) and absolute gravity infrastructure. The SLR station has been operational since 1979 and is currently operated in partnership by Geoscience Australia and NASA as a key component of the global satellite tracking infrastructure. Data from the station is used to support all geospatial activity in Australia. The YGO operates on a 24 hour x 7 day-a-week basis. The opportunity is for a person to take on the role as Assistant Manager of YGO including: assisting in the management of YGO and working as part of a team of observers contributing to the geodetic activities of Geoscience Australia and the International Laser Ranging Service (ILRS).

The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline level security clearance or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level. Commencement of employment is subject to the successful applicant undergoing and satisfying a police history check.
