Lecturer in Sustainable Development

School of Geography and Geosciences



Salary: £36,532 - £44,930 pa

We invite applications from highly motivated academics for a lectureship in Sustainable Development, which is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field in the University with a strong undergraduate programme and developing Masters and PhD programmes. Candidates from across Geography or a cognate discipline are welcome to apply, although the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the social and natural sciences is important.

You will be based in the School of Geography & Geosciences and will work closely with the interdisciplinary St Andrews Sustainability Institute (SASI). You should be committed to the value of inter-disciplinary research and teaching and you will play a major role in the development of this new and growing field; a Chair in Sustainable Development is currently being recruited and other lecturers have recently been appointed in this area. You will have a PhD in Geography or a cognate discipline, a strong publication record, and evidence of, or clear plans for, funding success. You will have excellent teaching skills in the broad field of sustainability. You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills and the ability to communicate effectively with academics from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds and with non-academics.
