Geophysicist Positions



This dynamic consultancy, software, hardware and innovation company is expanding again and has employment opportunities for geophysicists at the entry level as well as for experienced geophysicists. We have been based in Shrewsbury for fifteen years and have been part of Itasca International Inc with world-wide offices since 2009. Our company is a world leader in the science of passive seismology for the engineered environment, including microseismicity and acoustic emission. We supply cutting-edge consultancy services, software and equipment for the monitoring and analysis of induced seismicity - or earthquakes - over a range of scales, from rock samples in the laboratory to regional monitoring around mines, petroleum, and geothermal fields (www.appliedseismology.com) .

Responsibilities

The successful applicants will be responsible to their Senior Geophysicist, and to the General Manager and Chief Scientific Officer, and will be expected to perform consultancy projects through the application of geophysics including and not limited to:

  • Processing and interpretation of data
  • Develop R&D geophysical projects
  • Maintenance of software systems including development and implementation of algorithms required for Geophysics projects, and responding to client support requests
  • Contribute to the functional design of hardware seismic acquisition systems
  • Coordination and delivery of support for data acquisition including fieldwork where necessary
  • Production of reports, presentations and marketing materials
  • Contribute to conference and journal publications
  • Contribute to proposals for consultancy projects
  • Maintenance of office systems and Quality-management System (QMS) auditing
  • Responding to client and supplier enquiries
  • Personal development and skills training
  • Additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the Employer's business.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Higher degree in Geophysics or related discipline, preferably Ph.D.
  • Good working knowledge of computer systems and software
  • Capable of thinking and working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. We are an employee-owned company and everyone is a shareholder.
