Institute of Earth Science and EngineeringSeismology TechnicianThe University of Auckland has established an Institute of Earth Science and Engineering (IESE) www.iese.co.nz , as a cross-faculty (Engineering and Science) Institute managed by Auckland UniServices Limited. The Institute provides expertise in earth science research and the application of this research to projects with industry, community, government, and other universities. The backbone of IESE is its engagement in pure, applied, and relevant research and professional training focused on the accessible earth. IESE is seeking to employ a Seismology Technician. In this role you will assist the Geophysical Services Manager and Project Leaders to deliver on commercial and research seismology projects. This will primarily be through fieldwork and includes operation and maintenance of seismic field equipment, installations of equipment, monitoring, data collection, processing, analysis and report writing pertaining to existing and new seismic projects. Candidates must be able to travel to remote locations for extended periods of time. You will have a BSc in seismology, engineering or related earth science field. An MSc in seismology or related earth science field or post graduate qualification(s) in various seismological disciplines would be desirable. You will enjoy a positive, stimulating and at times, very busy environment. You will interact with a wide range of staff and visiting academics and students. You will be exposed to discussions about current research, commercial projects and the latest scientific developments.
