Ph.D. opportunity in Geophysics
at the Free University of Berlin




The Geophysics section in the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Free University of Berlin invites applications for a Ph.D. position in computational geophysics (salary level BAT IIa/2, 19.25 hours per weeks). The position is funded for three years.

Our profile

We search a highly motivated candidate, who will perform numerical simulations of karst aquifer systems within the DFG-funded project "Evolution of karst landscapes: Insights from numerical modelling". You will join a team specialised on karst processes and evolution.

Your tasks

You will take part in the further development and expansion of the numerical simulation tool KARST, developed in our group. You will apply the KARST tool to simulate the evolution of karst landscapes, including surface and subsurface processes.

Your profile

You must have a university degree (Diploma or MSc) in Physics, Geophysics, Informatics or a related discipline. We welcome applicants with strong experience in programming, preferably with knowledge on implementing complex physical and chemical processes in numerical codes.
