PhD Positions in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry

The Institute of Geological Sciences at the University of Bern is inviting applications for PhD Positions in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry

Applications are invited for two different PhD projects:

  1. Origin and evolution of Earth`s oldest continental crust
  2. Formation and modification of chondrules

We seek individuals with a strong interest in element- and isotope-geochemistry and analytical methods. Project A will involve field work in India.

Both studies will use state-of-the-art isotope and elemental analyses on rocks and minerals. Analytical methods development and improvement are key aspects of both projects. A background in isotope geo- or cosmochemistry and some experience in analytical methods are of advantage.

A requirement for admission to the PhD program is the completion of the MSc or equivalent degree.

The anticipated starting date is Oct. 1, 2019 or shortly thereafter, subject to approval of funding of the projects. Duration of the projects is anticipated to be 3.5 years
