Professor (f/*/m) in Rock-Water Interaction (100 %, Open Rank)
The start date of employment is 1 Feb. 2023. In case of appointment as Assistant Professor tenure track, the transition to a permanent position of Associate Professor takes effect following an evaluation.
We are looking for a person who will build a versatile research program in rock-water interaction processes from the upper crust to the shallow subsurface using an analytical and/or experimental approach. The candidate is expected to collaborate with the existing third-party funded research team at the IfG on the topics of reactive transport, nuclear waste disposals, geo-energy or carbon sequestration, as well as with industry and government partners. Candidates need to show a track record of academic excellence and leadership qualities. Candidates should hold a PhD in Earth Sciences or related field.
We expect a commitment to teaching with participation to various courses of our curriculum. At the IfG, classes are taught in German at the BSc level and English at the MSc level, and the candidate is expected to be able to teach in German after three years.
The IfG and the University of Bern offer an interdisciplinary and stimulating research environment and state-of-the-art research infrastructure. The professor is expected to actively collaborate with researchers at the IfG, across the University (Centre for Space and Habitability, or the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research), as well as nationally and internationally.
