Mineral Resources GeologistThe British Geological Survey, (BGS) part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), is the UK's premier geoscience strategic mapping and research organisation. A vacancy has arisen for a Mineral Resources Geologist based at Keyworth, Nottingham. As well as assisting in the development of our knowledge base in UK mineral resources, you will develop expertise to help maintain and enhance our status as a respected and authoritative mineral statistics and commodity information provider. This will include acquisition and compilation of a wide range of mineral commodity data and analysis for a range of end-users. You will also be expected to make a significant contribution to a range of existing and new web-based, digital and hard-copy commodity-based outputs. You will also help to develop our expertise on the relationship between mineral extraction, security of supply and sustainable development issues. You will have a first degree in Geosciences together with an understanding of the geology and mineral resources of the UK. The role requires you to develop links with outside stakeholders and, therefore, you must have good presentational and written skills. Starting salary will be between £19,150 per annum to £28,830 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. Working hours will be 37 per week excluding lunch breaks.
