Assistant Professorship in Geophysics

The Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Geophysics. We encourage applications from individuals whose expertise complements (but does not replicate) the Department's existing strengths in Geophysics (see further particulars for details) and who is able to work across disciplinary boundaries to make meaningful connections to colleagues working in broad areas of the Earth, environmental and planetary sciences. Those whose fundamental research has the potential to address pressing environmental, societal, or economic priorities are particularly encouraged.

We welcome applicants with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Earth Sciences or allied disciplines. They should be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of research and its communication in a relevant subject and demonstrate their potential to establish a vigorous research programme at an international level, identifying opportunities for their research to be supported by external grant funding.

The appointed candidate will contribute to our rigorous and vibrant programme of teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and should demonstrate their desire and potential to help inspire future generations of scientists through the delivery of the highest quality education.

The Department and University are committed to a pro-active and inclusive approach to equality, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture and values diversity. We particularly encourage women and candidates from underrepresented minorities to apply. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
