The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Cardiff University is a dynamic and successful multi-disciplinary centre devoted to research in the disciplines of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Applications are invited for the post of Tutor in Applied Structural Geology. The successful candidate will be required to teach at both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) level. Specifically, you will deliver contributions to UG Year 1 Geographic Information System (GIS), Maps and Analytical Skills (geological structures and map training) and Year 2 Structural Geology and Geophysical Investigations, plus Environmental Hazards in a Changing World at PGT level, as well as contributing appropriate case studies to over-arching modules on geoscience data analysis and professional skills in Year 2. Additionally, you will provide support for the Year 3 geoscience dissertations, the year-long professional placement modules and will be a major contributor to residential fieldwork.

The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake seminars, tutorials and group work and supervise a range of final year student projects as well as carrying out teaching-related administrative duties. Teaching contributions are within a framework of an agreed programme typically overseen by an academic member of staff. In addition, the candidate should be able to participate in other residential fieldwork and day trips as appropriate to the geoscience and geography degree programmes.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), available from 1st September 2021 and is fixed term for 12 months.
