The School is seeking a dynamic, research-based Earth Scientist with experience and expertise in applied aspects of the subject, particularly in the field of engineering geology. You will complement research interests within the School's Geoenvironmental Group, which include atmospheric and groundwater contamination, slope instability and landslide dynamics, hydrogeological modelling, environmental geophysics, environmental monitoring, coastal biological processes, coastal geomatics and coastal zone management. Teaching will mainly be within the MSc Applied Environmental Geology course. This is a vocational taught Masters programme that prepares students largely for careers with engineering and geological consultants (for course details see http://www.earth.cardiff.ac.uk/teaching/msc/app_env_geol.shtml). Major teaching responsibilities are anticipated to include soil mechanics, engineering geology and geomorphology, environmental assessment and related areas. In addition, appropriate candidates may be required to contribute to undergraduate modules in geomorphology and applied geology.
