Cardiff School of Earth and Ocean Sciences

1 Permanent Position

Lectureship in Coastal/Estuarine Geosciences

The School is seeking a dynamic early stage researcher in the following areas, although applications from particularly strong candidates in other related fields will be considered:

  • Physical sedimentology of coasts and estuaries
  • Estuarine sediment transport/estuarine dynamics
  • Coastal and marine geomorphology

The post is part of a major expansion of the School's activities in coastal and marine geomorphology, based on the recent acquisition of a hydrographic research vessel from a major University investment. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to this development and to foster collaborative links both within and external to the University. Interest in the Severn Barrage and marine renewable energy in general raises the potential for major research initiatives in this area in the next decade.

Main teaching responsibilities will involve lectures and fieldwork related to courses in Earth surface processes and geomorphology, at undergraduate level including BSc Marine Geography and MESci. Contributions to project supervision will also be required. (Vacancy no. 280)

Salary: £27466 - £32796 per annum

Informal enquiries may be made to the Head of School, Professor Dianne Edwards FRS, telephone: + 44(0) 29 2087 4264, email: edwardsd2@cardiff.ac.uk
