Postdoctoral Researcher in Hydrogeophysics
With PhD degree obtained between 2014 and 2019
The Centre for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones (CEAZA), located in La Serena and Coquimbo - Chile is a scientific consortium, established in 2003, which is dedicated to studying the impact of climatic and oceanographic variability on the hydrological cycle and biological productivity in the arid zones of Northern-Central Chile.
Description of role:
The successful candidate will participate to research projects focused on the characterization of mountain aquifers with geophysics (Magnetic Resonance Sounding, Transient Electro-Magnetics, and Electrical Resistivity Tomography). Projects objectives are the set-up of 3D and 2D hydrogeophysical models of aquifers in the Limari catchment mainly. The candidate will participate to the projects organization, field surveys, data processing, interpretation and to the models construction. Additionally, the postdoc researcher will be expected to communicate the research results to the wider community, especially local decision-makers, through their participation in workshops, seminars and other outreach activities. The candidate is expected to write at least one first ranked publication as first author and may participate to international workshops.
The candidate could as well participate to other CEAZA’s projects, such as glacier and rock glacier characterization, peatlands assessment and salt intrusion in coastal aquifers.
Required qualifications and experience:
The position is available for 2 years, starting about November-December 2019 (depending on the official beginning of the main project, which was already granted).
