Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Carbonate sedimentology and Petrophysics
for a period of 2 years starting July 1st, 2010
Job description
- The post doctoral research scientist will be integrated and funded through an academic/industrial network supported by TOTAL E&P. She/he will have autonomy in conducting her/his research activities, and she/he will closely collaborate with industry geologists.
- The research will focus on the reconstruction of carbonate depositional systems from selected areas, and the diagenetic-petrophysical characterization of the major carbonate facies. This can be accompanied by comparison with equivalent subsurface systems.
- The research will involve extensive fieldwork, sedimentological and geochemical analyses, as well as petrophysical measurements to characterize the geometry, diagenetic fluid history and physical properties of potential carbonate reservoirs.
- The research will be conducted both at the CEREGE, Aix-en-Provence (France) - see http://www.cerege.fr - and in TOTAL E&P labs in Pau (France).
- The post doctoral research scientist will be expected to publish her/his research in journals, present her/his results at international conferences, and prepare project reports.
Qualifications
- This position requires a Ph.D in Earth Sciences.
- The applicant should have proven experience in either carbonate sedimentology or petrophysics, or both, but all good candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Field experience is required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.
