Postdoctoral position in Geophysics in Prague

A competitive one-year postdoc opportunity is available at the Department of Geophysics (, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

We are looking for a motivated candidate who will integrate within and extend the themes of research at the Department, including dynamics of the Earth and planetary bodies (esp. numerical modeling of geophysical fluid dynamics), seismology (esp. seismic source and wave propagation modeling), particle geophysics (geoneutrinos, geo-relevant nuclear processes). The expected salary (at least CZK 46k/month ~ EUR 1800/month after taxes) is significantly above the usual level for a postdoc position, with the goal to attract international candidates. Additional funds will be available for travel.

Highlights from the qualification requirements (and bureaucratic constraints…): Official start date is no later than Sep 1, 2018, by which date (and within the past 7 years) the candidate must have obtained a Ph.D. degree. During the past 3-year period, for at least 2 years the candidate must either have been a graduate student or have held a research position at an institution outside of the Czech Republic. The candidate must have published at least 2 papers within the past 3 years. We will ask for names of two referees.
