Postdoctoral Researcher Positions: Ground-Penetrating Radar or Electrical Logging in the Field of Geophysics at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan)

China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) invites applications for several postdoctoral positions in exploration geophysics. The postdoctoral positions are intended to set up a stage to young professionals who would like to pursue a career in academia. Each postdoctoral position is a two-year appointment, and could be extended to three years depending on performance and funding availability. These positions will be remained open until filled.

A successful candidate should have completed a Ph.D. degree in Earth Science, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. Applicants having the following areas of expertise are encouraged to apply: ground-penetrating radar, borehole geophysics, electrical logging, reservoir simulation, or machine learning in geosciences.

The topic to pursue in each postdoc position does not have strict limitation, as long as within the field of exploration geophysics. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated ability in writing research proposals for projects. Specific research plans will be decided by discussing between the supervisor Prof. Feng Zhou and the candidates. The topic to pursue will meet the interest of candidates and fit the strategic development of the university and the supervisor. International joint supervision and visit are greatly encouraged.

China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) provides the successful candidates with a globally competitive salary: 200,000-300,000 CNY/yr, depending on qualifications. Besides salary, with support from Prof. Feng Zhou, postdoctoral researchers in the group would have a valuable opportunity to apply for the Postdoctoral Funding of China (80,000-120,000 CNY). In addition, this position will provide successful candidates chances to apply for the National Natural Science Funding of China for Junior Scientists (250,000 CNY average). This experience will sharpen young professionals in proposal writing and funding raising as a principle investigator.
