2022 PhD Scholarship in Exploration Seismology

The Centre for Exploration Geophysics at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia offers an exciting PhD research opportunity in the area of active and passive seismic data analysis. The PhD candidate will be involved in the development of new algorithms for processing, analysis and inversion of active and passive seismic data and application of these algorithms to field data.

The PhD study will build upon an extensive experience of the Centre in surface and borehole geophysical monitoring and application of fibre-optic technology in active and passive seismic studies. The candidate is expected to meet Curtin University's PhD entry requirements and have a working knowledge of seismic wave theory, signal processing and scientific programming.

  1. The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $28,854 per annum (tax free), indexed annually.
  2. The duration of the award shall be for three years with a possible extension of up to six months (maximum), assessed on a case by case basis.
  3. This scholarship includes a tuition fee waiver.
