Postdoctoral or Research Associate Position in Reflection/Refraction
Seismology at Dalhousie University



The departments of Earth Sciences and Oceanography seek a recent PhD in controlled source seismology interested in analyzing wide-angle refraction and marine multichannel seismic reflection data collected at rifted continental margins. The primary analysis to be carried out by the successful candidate is focused on dense OBS refraction profiles from offshore eastern Canada. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to interact with other members of the DIG (Dalhousie Imaging Group) and collaborate on a broad range of projects spanning mid-ocean ridges, subduction zones and rifted continental margin. He/she will make use of a new facility for controlled source seismic data analysis that consists of a large computer cluster (600 GHz compute power), many dual-monitor workstations, large data storage facility (80 TB), DLT tape drive, visualization and other state-of-the-art equipment.
