The Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (DHRTC) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) would like to invite applications for a 2½-year postdoc position starting 1July 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Natural fractures are important for controlling the flow of fluids in geological formations. Accurately predicting the distribution and geometry of these fractures is therefore important for many subsurface applications. This postdoc will be part of a successful on-going research project at DHRTC developing and applying new algorithms and techniques to simulate the growth of fractures.
Responsibilities and tasks
The focus of this postdoc is using and developing the fracture models to solve industry problems. This will include:
- Develop new workflows to model fractures in the subsurface.
- Characterize fracture networks from subsurface and out-crop data and investigate methods to assess uncertainty in predicting these.
- Investigate geo-mechanical controls on fracture development.
- Work with industry users to further develop and apply the models.
This position will involve working in close cooperation with the industry.
- Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent in a geoscience topic.
- Experience in geomodelling, programming, and statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills in English.
The following would be an advantage
- Industry experience in a subsurface environment.
- Experience using Petrel.
- Experience in outcrop mapping or core logging.
- Interpretation of geophysical or petrophysical data.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 2½ years (from the date of employment) and will be based at DHRTC.
