The Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage centre (SCCS) supports and links researchers in CCS across Scotland to develop international excellence and, together with industry and government, works to attract spend on CCS projects worldwide into Scotland. The SCCS is led by a partnership of the University of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt University and the British Geological Survey (the current SCCS 'members') primarily funded by the Scottish Funding Council. Although the SCCS is led by these three organisations, its intention is to deliver pan-Scottish benefit and all organisations undertaking CCS research will be 'affiliates' of SCCS.

The post-holder will be expected to have sufficient background to be able to make an impact quickly and it is therefore anticipated that they would have an excellent knowledge of some aspects of CCS (such as geoscience, energy and petroleum industries, or environmental consultancy and policy advice). Expertise in tracking EU and UK calls for funding, scoping and initial drafting of funding proposal is helpful.

It is anticipated that this post will be one of three business development professionals within the SCCS and there may be an opportunity to specialise in one particular sector of CCS activity.

Grade/salary scale: UE07 - £29,972 - £35,788 p.a.

Post title: SCCS Business Project Manager - Vacancy Ref No. 3015124

The primary function of this role is to coordinate and manage the operations of SCCS to ensure the SCCS strategy, as defined by the management group, is fulfilled. The project manager will also ensure the high quality of all projects carried out under the umbrella of the SCCS by managing their delivery. The role will have an overview of all the activities of the SCCS and will have delegated authority for project management, accounting and communication. The post-holder will need to understand the technical needs of industry partners and will set up systems to ensure that the contracted work is delivered to commercial specifications and timelines. You will work closely together with other member of the SCCS Secretariat and the Director to ensure the smooth running of SCCS and the SCCS projects.

Grade/salary scale: UE08 - £36,862 - £44,016 p.a.

Both posts are full-time, fixed-term until 31 May 2014.

Start Date: 01 February 2012 or another mutually agreed date.
