Postdoctoral Research Associate in Gas Geochemistry for CO2 Tracing
We are seeking a highly talented candidate for an 18 month fixed term Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the area of gas geochemistry of CO2 tracing for engineered CO2 storage. The successful applicant will be required to undertake independent research to investigate geochemical monitoring methods for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. The project will involve field sampling, laboratory analyses and experimentation, and interpretation of results from an active CO2 test injection experiment being conducted in Canada. It will involve a period of fieldwork at Carbon Management Canada's Field Research Station located in Alberta, Canada. This project will establish how multiple combined geochemical techniques can provide a robust and quantified determination of the fate of CO2 once injected in the subsurface using its inherent fingerprint. The research aims to further develop an inexpensive and reliable means of demonstrating secure storage of CO2 that is required by both regulators and the public alike for the establishment of industrial scale CCS projects.
This post is full time and fixed term for 18 months.
The School aims to ensure equality of opportunity and holds an Athena SWAN Silver award. We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of gender or ethnic group. Appointment will be based on merit alone.
