Job Description
Applications are invited for Experienced and More Experienced Researcher positions within the framework of the European Marie Curie Host Fellowships for Transfer of Knowledge (TOK) Development Host Scheme: "Advanced Seismic Acquisition and Processing (ASAP)" at the Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute (ELGI) (http://www.elgi.hu), Budapest site, Hungary. The aim of the project is to develop advanced seismic data acquisition and processing technologies using the Transfer of Knowledge instrument of EU FP6. The project has 3 partners: Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute (ELGI), Schlumberger Cambridge Research (SCR, located in Cambridge) and WesternGeco (WG, located in Oslo). A dedicated research group is set up in Hungary at ELGI. The research group will develop advanced vibratory seismic reflection techniques, both acquisition and processing, to increase data quality (fidelity, resolution, etc.) and/or to increase productivity.

The successful candidates will work within a multidisciplinary and challenging environment in seismic acquisition and processing. Candidates should have a doctoral degree or 4 to 10 years experience (Experienced Researcher positions) after obtaining an MSc or equivalent degree in geophysics or signal processing or applied mathematics or in a related field. For the More Experienced Researcher positions more than 10 years of experience is required. The applicant should have advanced software development skills (MATLAB and Seismic Unix are plus).
The position offers EC Marie Curie salary and allowances, as well as opportunities to collaborate with the other partners, and to attend short courses, meetings, and trainings held at the project site and international sites. Preference will be given to applicants who are citizens or residents of the European Union and associated countries. To favour research mobility across Europe, the position is not open to Hungarian applicants, except those who have resided outside Hungary for four of the past five years. Salary
Marie Curie ER salary + allowances (monthly)
(Living allowance (depending on experience) + Mobility Allowance between 250 and 420 Euro (depending on family situation) + Annual Travel Allowance depending on distance from location of origin to ELGI Budapest site + Possible Career exploratory allowance. Allowances are paid in HUF free of income tax at its actual exchange rate.
