![]() The Institute of Geography and Geology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald (EMAU) invites applications for the position of a Junior-Professor (W1) for Quaternary geologyWe are looking for a motivated Quaternary geologist to joint our geoscientific research unit. The Institute of Geography and Geology is specialised on the usage and sustainability of natural georesources and therefore contribution and strengthening of this current focus will be viewed favourably. The applicant should have experience in many of the following aspects: Pleistocene and Holocene sediments, glacial drift and till petrography/geochemistry, glacial processes and sediment deposition, glaciotectonics, geotope site protection and a range of state-of-the-art analytical methods of Quaternary geological study. The institute has well equipped analytical laboratories with facilities for water, mineral and rock analyses. Equipment includes laser-ICP ablation, AAS, XRF, XRD, SEM and HRTEM. Teaching duties will be 4 hours per week during term time and involve responsibility for Quaternary geology and petrography lectures and practical courses in our modulated B.Sc and M.Sc. programme. The successful candidate should have obtained a doctoral degree in geosciences within the last five years. A commitment to undertaking some administrative duties is expected. The employment conditions are based on 62 Abs. 1 of the "Landeshochschulgesetz M-V", which require a completed study at an institute of higher education, adequate teaching abilities and a special ability to scientific research study that in the rule should be demonstrated by doctoral promotion work of high standard and published achievements. Employment is initially for a term of 3 years on a civil servant status. During the third year, application for an extension of a further 3 year term is possible.
