Post-doctoral Fellows (Research Fellows) positions - Numerical Modelling (tsunami and storm surge inundation) and Shallow GeophysicsWe are looking to appoint 2 Post-doctoral Fellows in modelling and geophysics to be involved in our project on coastal hazards of southeast Asia. The post-doctoral fellow in geophysics, will ideally hold a PhD in geophysics or a related field and is required to possess knowledge in shallow geophysics (particularly ground penetrating radar (GPR)) or CHIRP sub bottom profiling. The candidate will be expected to examine subsurface stratigraphy and coastal processes in coastal lagoons, dune fields and sink holes to contribute to reconstructing the Holocene infill of a variety of environments and to contribute to a regional analysis. He or she will also be required to participate in a novel GPR based investigation of smuggling operations in Singapore. Secondly we are looking to appoint a Post-doctoral Fellow, holding a PhD in Oceanography, other Earth or Physical Sciences, Mathematics or Engineering, with an emphasis on hydrodynamics and computational fluid dynamics. The successful candidate will work on the development and application of hydrodynamic numerical models for coastal hazard mitigation and forecasting in 6 different countries around Asia. The focus of the position is the development of an operational in-house system that integrates observed inundation evidence from historical and palaeoevents and generates hind cast numerical simulations of possible storm surge or tsunami generated inundation scenarios that can be used to provide hazard assessments based on the palaeorecord. Interested applicants are invited to submit a full CV, including academic qualifications, research records / work samples and names and contact details of two referees, to: eos_humanresources@ntu.edu.sg. |
