
Research Assistant
The Earth Observatory in Singapore (EOS) is a national science Research Center of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies.
We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Research Assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants will have the following duties and responsibilities;
- Assist the Principal Investigator and collaborators to organize and conduct fieldwork in southeast Asia
- Conduct micro-sampling and drilling of carbonate samples
- Conduct basic chemical analysis in the laboratory including operating an inductively coupled plasma - optical emissions spectrometer, working with acids
- Liaise with other laboratories to obtain analyses of samples
- Liaise with suppliers to purchase laboratory consumables
- Assist with data management
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in chemistry, geology, environmental science or equivalent
- Experience in conducting fieldwork for research
- Self-driven and well-motivated team player with interest to work with other researchers and scientists to produce high-quality research
- Experience in using geochemical laboratory facilities
