![]() Academic position in igneous petrologyThe GeoZentrum Nordbayern seeks applicants for an academic position in the field of igneous petrology and geochemistry.This position is limited for the time of three years and can be extended for another three years. Salary is according to the German civil service remuneration system A13. The successful applicant is expected to carry out her/his own research in igneous petrology and geochemistry utilising the analytical facilities available within the GeoZentrum and seeking external research funding. The successful applicant is expected to teach 5 hours/week. The minimum qualification required is a PhD degree and a strong background in igneous petrology and geochemistry, especially isotope and trace element analysis. Initiative, a strong publication record, and good interpersonal skills will be expected. The GeoZentrum Nordbayern has been founded recently from the fusion of the geoscience departments of the Universities of Würzburg and Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. The new GeoZentrum will establish strong research in both high- and low-temperature geochemistry. Current facilities include XRF, XRD, electron microprobe, LA quadrupole ICP-MS, and stable isotope mass spectrometers as well as different labs for sample preparation. Clean labs and MC ICP-MS facilities as well as FTIR spectroscopy will be established within the next two years. The University of Erlangen-Nürnberg intends to increase the number of women in research and teaching positions and, therefore, strongly encourages female researchers to apply.
